sew + tell: debbie’s late lunch tunics

For this edition of Sew + Tell, we’re thrilled to have Debbie join us and share her experience sewing the beautiful Liesl + Co. Late Lunch Tunics. Welcome, Debbie! ![](http://bsg-i.nbxc.com/blog/02f34b523c9733a6777f061af28e9547.jpg) Debbie, could you tell us a bit more about yourself? You can be found online over at Pattern Review. **Project Details** Here are the links to your projects: [here](#) and [here](#). For these tunics, you used the Liesl + Co. Late Lunch Tunic pattern. Your fabric choices were Nani Iro double gauze and ITY jersey. Both fabrics seem to bring something unique to the project. ![](http://bsg-i.nbxc.com/blog/b9de6d4bc45aa814494c814e7ee82ca3.jpg) How did the fabrics work out for you? Absolutely, they both performed wonderfully, though each had its own distinct characteristics. The Nani Iro double gauze brought a soft, breezy texture that was perfect for creating a relaxed yet elegant look. On the other hand, the ITY jersey added a touch of stretch and comfort, making the second tunic incredibly wearable for everyday use. It was fascinating to see how each fabric complemented the design in its own way. ![](http://bsg-i.nbxc.com/blog/dde3a8472ff38ab3c08b732d98847103.jpg) How did the sewing process go overall? The sewing process was smooth and enjoyable. This pattern is truly a joy to work with. Paying close attention to the instructions for the bodice is key—just like with all Liesl + Co. patterns, the instructions are thorough and well-explained. If you're an experienced sewer, following along shouldn't pose any challenges. ![](http://bsg-i.nbxc.com/blog/4e208be14b95a5159a99455d105184f5.jpg) What was your favorite part of working on these projects? There’s nothing quite like seeing the final garments come together! I love pairing great fabrics with patterns that offer enough detail to thoughtfully place stripes or borders, and this tunic did exactly that. The ITY jersey tunic was inspired by the striped sample tunic showcased on the Liesl + Co. website. Meanwhile, the Nani Iro double gauze begged for a pattern that would let me utilize its border—and the Late Lunch Tunic fit the bill perfectly. --- As someone who loves sewing as much as you do, I’m always curious about the creative process. Do you have any tips for others who might be considering this pattern? Definitely! One tip I’d give is to take your time with the fitting process. Liesl + Co. patterns are known for their excellent fit, but like any garment, getting the right proportions requires some patience. Also, don’t hesitate to experiment with different fabrics. Each material brings its own personality to the design, which can lead to unexpected but delightful results. --- Thank you so much, Debbie, for sharing your insights and creations with us. We hope to see more of your sewing adventures soon! --- P.S. If you'd like to support our blog, consider checking out the ads below—they help keep the content free for everyone.
