Hello friends!
S has been eagerly counting down the days until her Christmas break, and we're now at just 1 1/2 weeks away! Are you all set for the holidays?
While S is looking forward to Christmas, there's plenty of excitement leading up to it. On December 22nd, the entire country of Spain tunes into the television to watch the Loteria de Navidad, or the Christmas Lottery. We're thrilled to be experiencing this cherished tradition, and we've even bought a lottery ticket for the occasion. S chose our number the other day on the way home from school, and Todd joked that it's all up to her now. If we win El Gordo, she'll receive a significant portion of the prize money. And if we don't win, well, it's entirely her responsibility! (She was okay with the first scenario but wasn't too keen on the second.) As I've mentioned before, the students from S's school sing the winning numbers (there are a lot of winning numbers, so they take turns), and it will be wonderful to watch them perform. It's also a great opportunity for me to practice my Spanish numbers – hours of practice ahead!
We've also planned a trip to Lisbon between Christmas and New Year's, and we're really looking forward to it. I'll be sharing photos on my Instagram account if you'd like to join us virtually. We've been invited to a lunch with the Portuguese sewing bloggers, and we're excited to meet some online friends in person.
Speaking of sewing, what else? Are you traveling for the holidays? When you have a moment amidst all the festivities, don't forget to create and add your 2015 Oliver + S sewing photo mosaics to the Flickr group. The mosaic maker is super easy to use, and in January, Rachel will do a 2015 post featuring everyone's sewing projects. I can't wait to see everything put together!
Alright, ready? These are my final picks for the year.

This paper town is like an adult version of snowflakes! I'd keep a window decoration like this up much longer than just for Christmas.

Check out this T-shirt—it reminds me of the Oliver + B Lunch Box Tee. This year, I made a dress that looks quite similar using the Liesl + Co Bento Tee pattern.

I absolutely love the proportions of this cardigan and dress. This is my preferred length for the Cinema Dress, but I hadn't thought of pairing it with a longer cardigan. With the right shoes, it would be perfect for a fancy holiday party!

'Tis the season for sweets, and the pretty colors and packaging of these bonbon-inspired soaps are simply genius.

Wouldn't it be fun to use our Straight Stitch Society Apples to Oranges Sewing Kit pattern to make a small bag for a little girl?

This contemporary Scandinavian-style quilt is absolutely stunning.

**Weekend Reading**
1. In the future, will our clothing be smart?
2. If you remember Esprit in its heyday, you might also know that Doug Tompkins, the founder of the company who passed away earlier this month, collected Amish quilts and displayed them in the company's headquarters. This post about those quilts has been making the rounds. (By the way, I once worked in Esprit's San Francisco headquarters, but sadly, the quilts were no longer there.)
3. Spending the holidays with family? Here’s something to keep in mind, especially when you start to feel overwhelmed by too much family time. (I'm really going to miss my family this year!)
4. Here’s a straightforward scientific explanation of why rejection hurts and how we can combat those feelings.
5. I came across this article the other day and wondered if living abroad truly enhances creativity.
Alright, have a fantastic weekend! We'll be back next week, so take your time and relax, won't you?
